Would you believe someone, if he or she told that everything you have lived is an illusion, or maybe a dream that a higher force is controlling. Probably you would think of that person as someone who is completely insane. Well, Rene Descartes one of the major philosophers of the seventeenth-century came up with this idea. He put forward the idea that what we consider to be a reality could be a simple dream. This idea that I read on the book “The questions of life” made me think about what is real and what isn’t.
I thought a lot about this idea, which Descartes brought up, but I came to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter if it is true or not, it could even be impossible to know if what we live is a reality or an illusion, what matters is that even if you find the answer for this it would not make any difference, we would continue to live our lives the same way as if nothing had changed for us.
The conclusion that I get from this is that we should not worry about what is real and what isn’t, life is too short to be asking this kind of questions, we should enjoy life as much as we can and live happy.
I really dont care if this is a dream!!!!! It will not change your life really. Everybody will continue with their lifes.. You are still going to study philosphy. The philosphers don't have proves or something that will make you believe in them. I really don't belive that this is a dream, this is real life, some philosphers gives you questions to you that makes your mind be crazy, and start to find the answers of questions that we don't know, and make your brain think differently... I agree with you, ENJOY YOUR REAL LIFEEEE
ResponderEliminarJorge, I agree with you by saying that life is too short to be asking that kind of questions, we should enjoy our lives as much as we can because we don't know when it is going to end. I also agree with Gerardo when he says that philosophers want us to think the same way as they do; we are free to think as we want.
ResponderEliminarI totally agree with you, I think that even though there are thousands of ideas about what we really are, we should just see them as some probable ideas, and enjoy our lives, because there is only one life, and we can not waste it looking for the Truth that one day we'll all know.
